Arrange for a shuttle bus, taxi, or private car (even a limo, if you’re interested) to wait for you at the Ljubljana airport and also other airports nearby (Venice, Klagenfurt, etc.).
Arrange for parking if you are coming with a car. We could also have a taxi ready to return to the apartment. Valet parking is another possibility, if you prefer that.
Wait for you at Levstik Square to welcome you and take all your luggage up to the Bellevue house.
Do the grocery shopping for you and stock the fridge with your favorite foods and drinks.
Offer a quick tour of Old Ljubljana upon arrival (if you’re in the mood to “hit the ground running”).

“Airy relaxation and breathtaking city vistas”

The luxury part of your stay starts at the door, but we will begin the tour on the top level of this spacious tri-level house, which is built right into Castle Hill.

The upper floor is an airy loft that features both a queen-sized bed and a comfortable couch that can be folded out into a double bed, with plenty of fine linens for both. There are also roomy custom-built wardrobes (with a small safe) and a large mirror that together form a sort of dressing nook.

This level has an “on top of the world” feeling. I think it’s great for reading or resting after a day of exploring the city. You can enjoy the fresh air or warm sun out on the expansive west terrace or revel in the morning sunshine and listen to the birds on the east terrace with a small garden surrounding it. From the east terrace you can even explore a small, steep path up the hill to the castle if you’re feeling adventurous.

If you are staying at the Bellevue House with two families or groups, this floor is likely to become the “home base” for one group. With two queen-size beds and an optional baby crib it will be comfortable for everyone.

The air conditioning unit is located here, as well as individual controls for the heat on this floor.

From here there are sliding glass doors to both terraces, which offer the views for which the Bellevue Holiday Home was named.

The larger, west-facing terrace offers unrivaled views of Ljubljana and its surrounding landscape, ranging from Mt. Krim (the highest peak in the Ljubljana basin) to the pink church on Rožnik Hill, which along with Tivoli serves as Ljubljana’s very own “Central Park” and is a popular landmark.

On clear days you also have a great view of the rolling hills climbing out of the Ljubljana Marsh on the horizon. Looking down into the city, there are lovely views of St. James, the Neo-Romanesque Trnovo Church, the National and University Library (NUK) designed by Jože Plečnik, the historic seat of the University of Ljubljana, and other noteworthy buildings.

Ljubljana’s characteristic red roof tiles stand in colorful contrast to the green trees of the Ljubljanica riverbanks and Congress Square that give the city a look all its own.

The floor on this terrace is heated, which means that it will be dry and comfortable in all seasons. There is also a large umbrella for especially sunny days. Just picture yourself enjoying a refreshing drink on this lovely private terrace with Ljubljana spreading out before your eyes.

On the other side of the building there is another smaller terrace featuring morning sunshine and views both of the city below and Castle Hill behind the house.

The loft looks over the next level down, the kitchen and living area, to which we will now turn our attention. The vaulted ceiling and expansive windows make this an exceptionally comfortable space, even for a large group.

Together with the well-equipped kitchen and custom-made furnishings this space will immediately feel like home to everyone in your group.

“Flexible, functional space for any group”

The large couch is a great place to socialize or watch TV and the long table seats eight for dinner or gives the kids room to do artwork or play board games. The credenza and small coffee table were custom-made from historic wood the owners repurposed from hay racks (Sln. kozolec), which are a unique feature of the Slovenian landscape.

I think these personal touches really give this home that extra something special that will make your stay even more pleasant.

“A gourmet’s paradise”

Any cook will be delighted to explore the kitchen and find not just top-quality basics, but countless extra gadgets and equipment for any style of food preparation.

Use the blender to make smoothies using fresh produce from the nearby market, or make sandwiches for the kids with the electric grill.

But there is a small risk: after you’ve enjoyed this superb kitchen you may not even want to go home to your own!
