Description
Julija’s Palace Ljubljana Apartments

Discover the story behind 4 Wolfova Street – Julija’s Palace – and how Slovenia’s favorite poet, France Preseren, found inspiration here from his muse, Julija Primic. And now, read on for more details of this spacious and bright apartment.
Preseren Square in the Heart of the Old City
You may have heard it before, a hotel or an apartment that’s ideally located in the heart of the Old City. Well, with this apartment we can truly say that it doesn’t get much better than this. The building is mere steps from Preseren Square and many of the windows in this apartment face the square allowing guests to really be close to the ambiance and events that take place on this square throughout the year. That’s not to say you’ll be disturbed by what’s going on, if you don’t want to be, because all windows are well sound proofed, allowing you to shut out the atmosphere if you choose to.
Enjoy the views of Preseren Square and Ljubljana Castle in the distance and when there’s a special event taking place on the square you can be the first to arrive. Concerts and other events happen over the summer while in the winter the square becomes a winter wonderland with its beautiful festive lighting and Christmas celebrations.

Step Inside Julija’s Palace
You’ll immediately know which building is Julija’s Palace because there’s a statue of her mounted to the exterior wall, just above the front doors. The beautiful original solid wood doors open into a large reception room where a wide staircase takes you up a floor to the common hallway. There’s no elevator here, but the wide and fairly shallow tread of the stairs makes it easy to bring your baggage up.
The common hallway is a beautiful space filled with architectural arches and detailed floor tiles, all features that were meticulously restored by the owners. There are doors to both the one bedroom and two bedroom apartments off this hallway.

Enter into the Apartment
From the common hallway you’ll enter the apartment into a reception hall that leads to all rooms within the apartment. At one end of the hallway are four spacious closets providing ample space for hanging clothes and for storing shoes and suitcases. There’s even an iron and ironing board here for your use.

The Living Room
The living room is spacious and bright, and is characterized by period furnishings many of which have been in the owner’s family for generations. Other pieces were specially picked for the apartment, insuring that all items are true to the 19th century Biedermaier rustic style – wooden and handmade.
There are two sofas in the living room, one of which is a sofa bed. A desk provides a place to sit and check the internet, using the apartment’s Wi-Fi, and there’s a table that could be used for dining or maybe a game of cards. At one end of the living room is the flat screen TV with cable.

Rustic Styled Kitchen
The lovely rustic styled kitchen in our two bedroom Wolfova Street apartment has a real “heart of the home” feel to it. Plenty of cabinets provide space to store your food and there’s also ample worktop space for preparing your meals. An oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and all the crockery, cutlery, and pots and pans you could need are all provided for you. The dining table can remain compact if there are only four guests staying here, but for larger families or groups it can be extended to provide seating for six people.

The Glazed Balcony
The kitchen and both bedrooms are at the back of the building facing into the glazed balcony. With its row of windows overlooking the inner courtyard this is a great place to sit and relax, enjoying the breeze and the peace and quiet that it offers.

The Two Bedrooms
The master bedroom is a great size and features a comfortable double bed as well as a reclining leather armchair where you can kick back and relax after a day of sightseeing. There’s a large closet in the room with ample hanging space, and night stands on either side of the bed with a lamp on each side for mood lighting. Talking of mood lighting, special attention was given to lighting throughout the apartment so that most of the rooms have the option to create your own ambiance by adjusting the brightness of the lights. The master bedroom also has black-out curtains so you can shut the light out and enjoy a sleep-in!

The second bedroom is a little smaller than the master but still a great size. Most importantly the double bed is very comfortable and there is mood lighting and AC.

The Bathroom
Our two bedroom Wolfova Street apartment features a large bathroom that provides plenty of space for everyone and includes two wash basins and lots of storage space for your toiletry items. There is no bath tub but the walk-in shower more than makes up for this and the heated floor keeps your toes warm while the heated towel rail is a great spot to hang your towels. The bathroom is also where you’ll find the apartment’s washer and dryer and there’s even a hair dryer provided.

Little Extra Details
To make your stay as pleasant as possible there are a number of other features we didn’t get around to mentioning above. There’s air conditioning in every room to keep the apartment cool in the summer months. The beds are the luxurious, ergonomic types that include fluffy down pillows and duvets though we’ll happily provide non-allergenic pillows if you need them. This is a great apartment for anyone visiting Ljubljana with children, as there’s plenty of space for everyone. Let us know if you need a crib or high chair and we can also make sure there are toys waiting for the little ones.
And, if you’re interested in reading the works of France Preseren, a booklet of his poems (translated into English) is provided in the apartment.
