Check into Trdinova apartment, set in one of Ljubljana’s classiest buildings, with an enviable location on the corner of Trdinova and Slovenska Street and just a short stroll from the hustle and bustle of the main Prešeren Square, Lubljana’s iconic bridges and the Central Market.

You’ll find a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops close by. The building faces Slovenska cesta, the lively main street that crosses the city center, just one of the areas in the city that has benefitted enormously from the city’s increasing focus on pedestrianization.
Should you need additional space for friends or colleagues, there’s also the option of our two-bedroom Slovenska apartment just across the road.

Once inside, you’ll find light-filled elegantly furnished rooms with high ceilings, and may not be surprised to learn that the apartment’s owners are an ex-NBA and Slovenian basketball star and his wife. At the heart of the apartment is a large open plan living and dining room, with kitchen, and there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.

Despite its age, the beautiful building is superbly maintained at all times. Entrance to the apartment is via a double wooden door on a side road, into an immaculate lobby with large windows and a beautifully preserved staircase. The apartment is set on the west side of the 2nd floor (no elevator), and there is another privately owned apartment on the south side.

This same attention to detail and care for original features is also apparent inside the apartment. High ceilings create a wonderful feeling of space, and the original doors and wooden floors have been maintained.

Other than this, however, the apartment is a monument to modern design and technology, with brand new windows, contemporary furniture and design elements, a luxurious bathroom, air conditioning and plenty of storage space.

The apartment features a large hallway, with soft light grey walls, with a big baroque style mirror and two stylish pink chairs. The two doors on the right lead to the second bedroom and the bathroom. At the end of the hallway, large double doors lead into the open plan living room.

Extending over around 20m², the spacious living room is the perfect spot to relax at the end of the day, lingering over leisurely meals in the dining area or watching the big screen TV. Large newly installed windows face directly on to Slovenska cesta, the main street.

The room is well furnished with a large couch and stylish rug. An attractive dresser, with ample drawers and cupboard space, is well stocked with books and wine and drinking glasses.

You’ll want to make the most of Ljubljana’s eclectic mix of culinary options but when you do feel like dining in the apartment, you can enjoy meals at the dining table in the open plan living room. The elegant table and matching chairs are complemented by a contemporary black metal light fitting.

The compact but fully equipped kitchen features brand new appliances, including a dishwasher, oven, hob, kitchenware and kitchen essentials. The kitchen is completely stocked with everything you need to cook meals at-home.

The bathroom (6m²) has also been completely refurbished and equipped with brand new fixtures and fittings, including a shower (with rainfall or handheld shower heads), sink and toilet. Large dove grey ceramic floor tiles contrast beautifully with the white ceramic sink. The bathroom also has a ceramic shelf with 2 hooks for towels or clothes, and a BEKO washing machine with 11 program settings.

Access to the master bedroom is through double doors from the living area. Again, large windows let in plenty of light, but thick curtains will keep out the light when required.

There’s a queen size bed and plenty of wardrobe space but the most noticeable features are the funky geometric white and grey wallpaper and pretty light fittings!

The second bedroom is more of a cabin room, cleverly designed to offer a comfortable sleeping space, with a sliding door. The three windows – one facing the hallway and two to the bathroom – are all frosted, ensuring maximum privacy. With a queen size bed and compact wardrobe space, this is a comfortable sleeping area for two children or a couple.

For guests arriving by car, there is no private parking, but you can park on the street or in a garage under Kozolec, around 100m away. The apartment is also conveniently located for public transport – city buses stop in front of the apartment building and the central bus and train station are both a 15 minute walk away.

But of course, the real joy of such a central location in Ljubljana is the ability to walk everywhere. Your first sight will probably be of the Ljubljana Skyscraper, just 100m from the apartment and actually visible from the apartment windows. After that, if you’re new to the city, the chances are you’ll want to see some of the most famous attractions of the Old Town.

Fill your days with visits to the galleries, the iconic Castle or just strolling through the city and admiring its magnificent architecture. Take time out to visit the Central Market and wander along the river, crisscrossing it via the many bridges, the most famous of which are the art nouveau Dragon Bridge and Cobblers Bridge in the center of the Old Town.

The Central Market is a great spot to pick up some local provisions, but you’ll also find a good selection of restaurants and grocery shops near the apartment. Just round the corner from the apartment, the rooftop B Restaurant & Bar is a memorable spot for a sundowner cocktail or gastronomic dinner with a view. Alternatively, JB restaurant is highly recommended for a superb culinary experience, while EK Bistro is a great place for brunch enthusiasts.
