Full story
The apartment is on the first floor of a traditional but well-maintained block with a private courtyard that’s overlooked by the apartment’s balcony. Spacious (970 sq. ft) and elegantly furnished, this is a wonderfully relaxing place to return to at the end of a hectic day of sightseeing!
Kitted out with bespoke carpentry and designer fittings, including Artemide and Prandina lights, the atmosphere is decidedly sophisticated. Expect top Bosch appliances in the kitchen, air conditioning, Wi-Fi (34 Mbps) and a smart home system for temperature control during summer and winter. However, the functional design ensures that the apartment is still perfectly suitable for families.

Set on a quiet, leafy street close to the historic center of Ljubljana (300 m), the only traffic noise is that of the other residents’ cars on the street. With its central location and the proximity of the bus and train station (around 400 m), you will not need a car. Shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions are within walking distance. If, however, you do arrive by car, there is a free parking space in the private courtyard.

Enter the apartment straight into a large modern hallway with access to the kitchen, living room and bathroom. Turn left into the main living room which in turn leads into the main bedroom and walk-in wardrobe.
To the right, enter the ‘walk-through’ kitchen, which has doors at the other end on to the balcony. Alternatively, straight ahead of you, the second living room, which can be adapted for use as a second bedroom or workspace, leads through to a dining area.
Location
One of the smallest European capitals, Ljubljana never gets over-crowded, but with its colorful blend of cultural attractions, it’s a great spot for an enjoyable break.
Make your first stop in town the famous Dragon Bridge which spans Lujbljanica river, just 400 m from the apartment. Built between 1900 and 1901, the bridge replaced an old wooden bridge and was one of the first of its kind to be built in Europe. Its fiercely lifelike dragon statues are some of the most iconic images of Ljubljana – you simply can’t claim to have visited Ljublijana without a photo taken on the bridge!
Beyond the bridge, you’ll find the central food market, an outdoor market selling locally grown fruit and vegetables, cured meat and plants. On Fridays during spring and summer, an Open Kitchen hosts a superb food market featuring chefs from Slovenian restaurants and there is also an indoor market (‘Plečnik’s Covered Market’) and a fish market.
Other attractions in the historical center include Ljubljana Castle, accessible via a funicular ride, and Metelkova. This alternative culture center hosts a daily program of events including art performances and exhibitions and is just 500 m from the apartment. Don’t miss the coffee shop next door which runs interesting weekend workshops and concerts.
Central food market and Plečnik’s Covered Market
For the ever-curious – and particularly the kids – the House of Experiments is just 300 m from the apartment, and the Old Power Station, a historical monument which now serves as a performance venue, is just around the corner.
When it comes to more practical concerns, including shopping and eating, the Ledina Center opposite is a smallish mall where services include a bar, bakery, dentist, grocery store, and hair salon. There is, of course, an excellent selection of restaurants in town but for a special treat, head for the Michelin-starred JB Restaurant, the first Slovenian restaurant to make it on to the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, situated just minutes from the apartment. For a more affordable option, try Fari’s fast food restaurant which has a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options.

Attractive wooden flooring and fresh white walls lined with bookshelves characterize the elegant living room. Relax back on the huge L-shaped pull-out sofa to watch TV – a smart TV with cable channels. There’s a handy workspace and plenty of places for documents, books, and other materials.

Kitchen
On days when you don’t feel like eating out, enjoy whipping up a meal in the kitchen. It’s beautifully designed to make the most of every inch of space and equipped with top Bosch appliances and plenty of cupboard space. Although Ljubljana has high-quality drinking water, the apartment is still equipped with Kinetic Reactor tap meshes for extra filtration.
