“Great place and location!”
I can’t recommend this place enough! The apartment is well provisioned and comfortable, and very centrally located – just around the corner from the food market and Dragon bridge. Check-in and check-out were smooth and easy to coordinate. We really appreciated the up-to-date Ljubljana city guides and maps and great restaurant recommendations from the host as well. “Exceptionnel”
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour, rien ne manque la propriétaire est aux petits soins avec ses hôtes, de l accueil avec une corbeille de fruit, champagne et apero il ne manque absolument rien du petit déjeuner (café,thé et corneflex etc) elle pense à tout pour les séjours de 4 jours (huile,vinaigre, sel,poivre etc) vous avez même les parapluies ce qui n est pas le cas dans tout les pays de trouver autant de choses même la lessive et les produits pour se laver n emmener rien vous trouverez tout. Une propriétaire hors pair allez y les yeux fermés vous ne serez absolument pas déçu.

Beautiful Slovenia Holiday Villa
A Restored Istrian Houses with Private Pool
The Idyllic Hilltop Hamlet of Topolovec
Villa Topolovec is perched on the top of a hill in the quiet Slovenian village of Topolovec. Home to just a handful of residents this idyllic hamlet is the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing vacation yet it’s within easy reach of larger villages and towns, giving guests the best of both worlds.
Koper, the largest coastal city in Slovenia, is just a 20 minute drive from our Slovenia holiday villa, and it has a wonderful old town to explore. From here you can head up or down the coast to see numerous Italian and Slovenian Adriatic towns or drive just a short distance south across the border into Croatia.
From its elevated position, you’ll enjoy spectacular views over Piran Bay, the city of Trieste (in Italy) and even the Alps on the horizon on a clear day.
Despite the quaintness of the village there is a popular restaurant in the neighboring village of Belvedur, just a few hundred meters from Villa Topolovec. Named Belvedur, like the village, this country inn is extremely popular for lunch and dinner with many traditional recipes and local specialties like homemade salami and cheese, gnocchi with truffles, roast with asparagus pesto and other fine meat and fish dishes.
Meanwhile, the hills and quiet lanes provide ample space for walking and cycling, plus other activities such as horseback riding, bird watching, rock climbing, golf and mountain biking can also be enjoyed in the surrounds. The expansive and quiet countryside is also perfect for dog walking.
A Beautiful Renovation of a Historic Stone House
Many of the stone houses in this region are a hundred of more years old, and Villa Topolovec is no exception. This Istrian house was originally built in 1898 and has been superbly restored and renovated within the last few years to provide a level of luxury that should meet even the most discerning of travelers requirements.
Despite the modern renovation, the stone house still has a great deal of charm and original features including many exposed stone walls. In fact, the renovation was overseen by an experienced architect and project manager, all the while keeping within the Ministry of Culture’s guidelines to ensure the house was authentically restored.
The estate actually has a total of three buildings surrounding the courtyard and pool but the other two buildings will never be rented or stayed in independently of the main villa. This way, guests of Villa Topolovec can be assured of privacy and quiet at all times.
Spacious Living Areas with Pool Access
On the ground floor of our Slovenia holiday villa you’ll find the spacious living areas. A large Italian kitchen and dining room with seating for up to 6 guests opens out to the pool deck through double glass doors, while a lovely stone arch takes you through to the living room with open fireplace for the cooler months.
Even though this is a traditional stone house it has all the modern comforts including heating and air conditioning, and cable TV and internet, and the kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you should need while on vacation.
Also downstairs is the third bathroom which is conveniently close to the swimming pool. This spacious bathroom comes complete with walk-in shower, toilet and sink.
The Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Our Slovenia holiday villa has two double bedrooms, both of which have ensuite bathrooms, so there is plenty of space in this vacation rental for a bigger family or two couples.
The impressive master bedroom has vast proportions, and the vaulted ceiling gives the room an even bigger sense of space. Furnished with pieces that seem right at home in this historic building, the master bedroom even has ample space for one or more additional portable beds that can be added at your request to accommodate children.
On that note, it is also possible as an alternative, to have an additional bed set up in the living room, and, there is a basic apartment onsite too that could be used for extra sleeping accommodation though this is by prior arrangement only.
Ensuite to the Master Bedroom, the Master Bathroom is very spacious and comes with a lovely clawfoot bathtub and a walk-in shower.
The second bedroom is another double. Although this room is not comparable to the size and proportions of the master bedroom it is charming all the same and offers a cozier atmosphere. An added bonus is that this bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom so anyone staying in either of the two bedrooms has the privacy and convenience of using their own private bathroom.
The Wonderful Outdoor Spaces
While this Slovenia holiday villa is lovely on the inside, it’s the outdoor spaces that really help to bring it to the next level. Enclosed by a courtyard that is accessed through the double doors from the kitchen, the main outside space offers the ultimate in privacy.
Guests staying in Villa Topolovec have exclusive use of the swimming pool so your kids can spend their entire days splashing around in the pool, while adults can relax in and around the pool at any time of the day or night. The extensive patio area provides ample space for sitting in the sun, or find a shady spot during the full heat of the day.
Not shown in any of the photos, the property also has two elevated terraces that always catch a gentle breeze blowing in from the coast, and benefit from amazing views.
