Perfectly situated on the edge of the city, the Maribor apartment is an excellent choice for nature-loving couples and families looking to explore eastern Slovenia. Maribor old town is just 15 minutes away on foot and the main city park is a mere 5 minutes away. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are riverside walks and hiking and biking adventures on your doorstep, but there’s also plenty for anyone seeking culture or gastronomic experiences.

The layout and design of the apartment ensure a comfortable stay for all its guests, with plenty of space to relax inside and out, ample storage space, and high-end finishes in the kitchen and bathroom. With high-speed internet, air conditioning in the living room, and two huge smart TVs, it’s also a good option for corporate travelers.

Extending over 90m², with a further 90m² of floor space on the roof terrace, this first-floor apartment has wonderful 360˚ vistas over the hills that surround Maribor. However, the old town, with its cobbled lanes, bars, cafes, and cultural attractions is a mere 1 km away.

Oozing sophisticated style, everything in the apartment has been carefully designed to provide practical living with luxurious finishes. Underfloor heating and high-speed internet, with Alexa assistant, runs throughout the apartment and an air-conditioning unit keeps the living room cool. Large windows in all the rooms ensure that the apartment is filled with natural light and the living room, bedrooms, and kitchen area feature electric blackout shutters.

Set on the first floor of a building on the outskirts of the town of Maribor, the apartment is perfectly placed for exploring Maribor and many of the attractions of Eastern Slovenia. The town is easily accessible from neighboring countries by road or rail and is a 45-minute drive from Graz and 1½ hours from Ljubljana and the Croatian capital of Zagreb. The nearest airports are Maribor (15km), and Ljubljana (130km).

In terms of its immediate location, the apartment is just 5 minutes on foot from the walking trails through the city park, and 8 minutes from the Ljudski vrt football stadium. Start your journey of discovery with a hike up Pyramid Hill for the best views of the city and the region or take the gondola up to Pohorje for more great vistas. Then head into the old town to admire the Franciscan church and the new fountain in Glavni Trg (Main Square) and linger over a coffee in one of the town’s many cafes.

A short walk from the old town, along the Drava River, takes you to Lent, the oldest part of Maribor. Here you’ll find cobbled lanes, pedestrian streets, and more bars and cafes, and also plenty of places of historic interest, including Judgement Tower, the Water Tower, ancient city walls, and, in the Jewish district, the synagogue. And be sure to visit the world’s oldest grapevine at the Old Vine House!

There are also plenty of contemporary cultures to choose from, including ballet, opera, and the edgy alternative culture center at Pekarna. For wine lovers, head out to the Vinag Wine Cellar or sample the wine at the Kungota and Doppler wineries before heading to Svečina where a heart-shaped road meanders scenically through the vineyards.

If you prefer more active pursuits, enjoy indoor and outdoor swimming at the Health Center and SOA Fontana, or make tracks for the riverside where you can choose everything from boat tours to kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. The apartment is a great starting point for the mountains around Maribor. Head out of town to hike, bike, or ski in the hills in Pohorje and Slovenske gorice.

The living space is open-plan, with a kitchen and dining area, and features a polished wood floor, huge floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the hills, and a large flat-screen smart TV with 3D and cable channels.

Enjoy preparing meals in the superbly equipped kitchen which features modern Gorenje appliances. Here, you’ll find everything you need including an oven, microwave, full-size fridge freezer, electric hob, toaster, blender, kettle, pots and pans, and a Nespresso coffee machine.

Set between the kitchen and living space, mealtimes can be relaxed informal affairs. Enjoy cooking your favorite meals in the hi-tech kitchen then dining at the glossy white table with six chairs.

The two bedrooms are simply but elegantly decorated in calm, neutral colors. The master bedroom has direct access to the bathroom and a large flat-screen smart TV. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow in masses of light and provide wonderful views across the hills.

Access to the exquisitely tiled marble bathroom is either from the master bedroom or hallway (adjacent to the second bedroom). Here, you’ll find the washer-dryer, a hairdryer, and a state-of-the-art toilet seat with extra features. And above the rainfall shower is a skylight roof window with an electronic opening feature so you can shower under the stars! A window between the master bedroom and the bathroom allows additional light into the bathroom but this can be covered with a blind.

The highlight of the apartment is the magnificent rooftop terrace. This is an idyllic place to relax at the end of the day or dine al fresco with a bottle of local wine. The terrace is fully furnished with a garden table, 8 chairs, and sunbeds. There’s also a cooking area with a sink and space for a grill (grill available on request).

An American-style fridge-freezer, with an ice maker, is set just inside the door to access the terrace. If you’re lucky enough to be here over New Year, you may not be preparing a barbecue, but you’ll certainly get the best views of Maribor’s fireworks display!
